BitofEarth.net is a now-defunct Lord of the Rings fansite which became the epicenter of wank when its patrons (including Jordan Wood, OrangeBlossom, and Turimel) attempted to organize a fan convention called Tentmoot. Tentmoot's main attractions were to be actors from the LOTR movies and a musical performance by the Black Seeds.
Jordan and OrangeBlossom took charge of booking a venue for the con and travel arrangements for the guests, claiming Bit of Earth as a charity group to get discounts. Days before the con was to begin, however, Jordan told Turimel that Air New Zealand had reneged on its offer to give free airfare to Tentmoot guests. To save the con, Turimel paid for the plane tickets herself, only to later discover that Jordan had never made a deal with Air New Zealand in the first place. Three guests arrived in Los Angeles before Turimel could cancel the bookings. Tentmoot was then cancelled when OrangeBlossom claimed that Jordan had been hospitalized following a suicide attempt.
In the process of recovering the thousands of dollars she'd lost in the debacle, Turimel reported Jordan and OrangeBlossom to the Oregon Department of Justice, which investigated Bit of Earth's alleged status as a nonprofit organization. In the aftermath of this hoopla it was revealed that Jordan was in fact Bit of Earth member Victoria Bitter, who had supposedly committed suicide because OrangeBlossom left him for Jordan. This was not a surprise to long-time f_w members, who knew this from the original pseuicide wank back on Blurty.
Turimel has since written a book, When A Fan Hits The Shit, about her involvement in this wank, which in turn created more wank. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
