The phrase "bring the funny" was also used throughout episode 2.18 of the TV show The West Wing, which aired on April 4th, 2001. Whether the phrase was brought into popular discourse through the show's fans, or whether scriptwriter Aaron Sorkin lifted the phrase from the Internet or other sources, is unknown.
