The source material in a fandom. It's also sometimes known as that pesky thing that keeps Draco from wearing leather pants. I mean, just because the author says something doesn't make it true, right?

Well, yeah, actually. In the case where Draco does wear leather pants, that would be fanon, the antonym of canon.

Not to be confused with a cannon, which has nothing to do with canon but IS useful for blasting the fanits.
