CharlotteLennox, on Journalfen [1] and LiveJournal [2]: Acting as a fandom historian, Charlotte Lennox posted The Ms. Scribe Story: An Unauthorized Fandom Biography in installments to her LJ, JF, and the community Bad Penny, starting June 15, 2006.
Charlotte Lennox is a pseudonym for a person (possibly one or more), who was in a group of friends that had been tracking Msscribe's activities for some time. She had intended to share the initial draft of "The Ms. Scribe Story" only with those friends, but as her research grew she realized it had to be told to all of fandom. She chose to publish on Journalfen because she "feared the sometimes capricious and hastily-applied Terms of Service deletions on Livejournal". Her choice to publish pseudonymously is no doubt also linked to fear of TOS, as well as a desire not to contaminate the account with personal bias against or for the writer.
Speculation over her identity has been rampant. Some fans pointed to narcissam[3] or angua9 - either overlooking that Charlotte did claim those two as sources, or considering that a distraction ploy. Charlotte's statement that her heart belongs to Mina de Malfois has sparked speculation that Mina and Charlotte are controlled by the same mysterious puppeteer, though Mina herself claims that Lennox wasn't her, though she did know her identity. Some have even considered the possibility Charlotte was Msscribe herself, as one grand final sockpuppet. However, as of the time of this writing, Charlotte Lennox's true identity has not been revealed to the general public. An anonymouse on LOL_Meme did make a claim about a group behind the name, but since that was in an anonymeme, it should probably be considered as valid as a bucket of warm spit.
The name "Charlotte Lennox" itself may be a reference to a British author and poet of the 18th century, whose best-known novel was about a woman who considered herself a Romantic heroine.[4][5] More likely, however, it refers to a historical duchess who appears in the novel Vanity Fair, which is the source of one quote in her user info.[6] As many have compared the Ms. Scribe Story to Vanity Fair,[7] this is surely not a coincidence. (Note that the other quote is from the Harry Potter novels - yet for some reason we think the pseudonym "Albus Dumbledore" would not have gone over as well.)
