The shipper term for the pairing of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. Although the term could be applied to any variation of the characters in the Superman mythos, it is primarily associated with the TV show Smallville, in which their bitter rivalry has not yet begun and they are both bishies.

Because Superman is an archetypical hero and Luthor is far and away his most ruthless archenemy, Clex relies heavily on the fanon that Lex is just misunderstood or that his destiny on Smallville isn't set in stone. Thus, to someone outside the fandom, Clex can be an unusually shocking form of rivalslash, comparable to Jesus giving up da butt for Judas. Especially if your mental image of Lex is less like Michael Rosenbaum and more like, say, Telly Savalas.

Clex is huge in Chile, whose primary exports are copper, fishmeal, and mpreg.
