Dragonball Z
From Fandom wank wiki
Dragonball Z, aka DBZ: An anime series that ran for OVER NINE THOUSAND years in Japan and on the Cartoon Network. (WHAT NINE THOUSAND?!?)
A typical storyline on DBZ involves the following:
- A monster from outer space shows up, wishing to fight and kill and destroy people on Earth.
- Goku's super-powered friends worry because Goku can't stop the monster, so they try to do it themselves.
- Goku's friends all get their asses kicked. The monster slaughters billions of people.
- Goku frets about not being able to do anything.
- Goku's friends finally come up with a hail mary play.
- That doesn't work either. More ass-kickings.
- Goku looks concerned.
- At least one of Goku's friends achieves some heretofore unattainable superpower, and fires his energy at the monster for about three episodes straight.
- The monster shrugs it off. Goku's friends all gape in shock for about seven episodes.
- Goku finally gets off his ass and fights the monster.
- The monster withstands Goku's attacks too.
- Goku tries every possible attack, then remembers one he hadn't thought of before, and wins.
- Goku uses the dragonballs to bring everybody back to life. Unless he already used up all the dragonballs' wishes. Then he just gets new dragonballs. Unless he's found all the dragonballs in the universe. Then he just finds some more anyway.
- The monster decides to just kinda hang out with Goku and get his ass kicked by the next monster.
Series
- Dragon Ball - About a little kid with a turd hanging out his pants, running around collecting balls.
- Dragonball Z - About a grown man winning the same basic fight over and over and over.
- Dragonball GT - The show that finally made DBZ fans realize what it was like for everyone else to watch DBZ. About a sixty-year-old grandfather being turned back into a kid with a turd hanging out his pants. Unlike the first two anime series, this one was not based on the manga.
- Dragonball AF - Mythical series that American fans routinely believe is already in production in Japan, and will be imported to the US any day now.
Sanitized For Your Protection
You know how people die a lot in Dragonball Z only to be resurrected by the Dragonballs? Or how there's lots of blood and dead bodies lying around after a fight? Or maybe you've noticed the nudity?
No?
The early translated episodes produced by Funimation eliminated blood and dead bodies and made several other visual edits to the series, including adding towels or strategically-placed foliage to conceal nudity, cutting storylines and characters, changing text ("HELL" became "HFIL"), and eliminating death ("I will send you... to ANOTHER DIMENSION!") and dismemberment ("You just wait till this grows back!"). This was a cause of much wank in the fandom.
Because you just don't mess with great works of art.
