Fandom Wank is an online community dedicated to the mocking of over-seriousness, ridiculousness, and general stupidity within the various media fandoms. ("Wank" is a British sexual slang word referring to masturbation which is used here in a metaphorical sense to refer to fans who have gotten so carried away that they are getting off on their egos in public).

There exists a place called Fandom Wank; originally it was a community on LJ but they got kicked off for offensive behaviour. Now they live on LJ clone Journal Fen. [edit] Original community description The original community description reads: Do you point and laugh at postmodernist deconstructions of Why Hot Guy A Wants to Fuck Hot Guy B Through the Mattress? Do you snicker cynically when fans who pride themselves on their intellectual superiority throw whining tantrums like Ritalin-deprived five-year-olds? Do you like to sit down with an economy-sized tub of popcorn and warm your feet by the gentle glow of a nice flamewar? If you said "hell, yes!" to any of the above, you've come to the right place.

[edit] FW Stats Birthday: October 16th 2002 Journalfen birthday: March 16th 2003 Around 4500 members. Around 6 regularly active moderators. Wanks per day: varies; once a high point of 8 a day, currently about 1 every other day. A regularly increasing amount of spinoff communities.
