The Land Before Wank
- Pre-2002
- And on the Eighth Day, God created Fandom and he looketh upon it and he smileth and say "yea, [this is good]". And there were message boards and fanlistings and 'zines. God said, "Behold, I have given you pretty boys with useful interlockingeth organs and the power to fashion flashing icons in your own image, so you will not be bored." And Fandom was content.
- On the Ninth Day, God cast Satan out of Paradise where he went to crawl upon his belly and create his own playground: Fandom Wank. And Fandom was no more at peace.

2002
- October 16th
- The birth of the illustrious community. Fandom Wank is created on journaling system LiveJournal.
- Fandom recoils.

- January 14th
- Fandom Wank is TOSed from LiveJournal for no discernable reason. No valid response is ever given. See TOSsers for assorted reactions.
- Wanktastic is created and survives 16 hours before it is also TOSed. ideology_wank and revenge_of_wank barely last a few hours.
- A Yahoo Group is created.
- January 16th
- LJ Abuse suspends Fandom Wank founder Dara for telling Brad (Fitzpatrick, creator of Livejournal) to "chug cock".
- Some Time Soon Thereafter
- Versaphile creates Fandom Wank on Blurty and codes the current rainbow layout along with Mortari.
- First "FW is starting to suck" growing pains result in her creating some preliminary rules, too.
- Marchish
- TOSed from Blurty.
- Very brief existence on CrazyLife.
- Move to newly created JournalFen.
- Creation of the ModSquad under the nominal control of Dara.
- Aprilish
- Mortari quits the ModSquad in a rain of wank.
- Augustish
- Stormfreak banned from JournalFen for abuse of servers.
- Some time
- Offshoot communities start forming with Fandom Lounge and Fandom Rant.

- Some time
- "FW getting suckier" discontent rises and eventually boils over in the creation of Noob and Old Timer/Cool Kid communities.
- June 24th
- Fandom Wank is undeleted by the admins.
- July 23rd
- Phoenix is banned from FW, then suspended from JF, due to "hilarious" asshattery.
- October 19th
- FW community is put on post moderation.
- October 24th
- Four new mods (Phosfate, Wankprophet, Sepiamagpie and Panthea) are added to the The ModSquad as a result of a general poll.
- December 19th
- Thorn_star is banned from FW for the first time.
- December 20th
- Thorn_star is unbanned from FW.

- Around May 13th
- Thorn_Star banned for trolling, by popular request. Sparked by his trollish comment-disabled "PSA" about anon comments being turned off.
- June 23rd
- Fandom Love and its aftermath
- FW Cool Kid elfy suspended from JournalFen for insulting the owner, then reinstated.
- Wankicane Katrina
- October 3rd
- Blackjackrocket banned from Fandom Wank.
- November 18th
- "Controversial" trollish community Cosplayfucks banned from JournalFen due to overwhelmingly underaged memberlist.
- At some point
- Apoplexia and Snacky join The ModSquad.

- HP Cornfield created to spare F_W from Harmonian wank.

- Eljuno joins the Modsquad.
- The Ms. Scribe Story is posted on Bad Penny. Journalfen population expands.

- The Bad Penny is NOT a Fandom Wank Community implosion, leading to the birth of LOL Meme.
