Godwin's Law

This page details a Jurisimprudence law.

This law, written by Mike Godwin, states:

As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.

It is tradition that whenever this happens, the discussion is termed over and the person who makes the offending comparison loses.

Corollaries

Godwin's Law was written in 1990, and is not actually on the Jurisimprudence list due to the fact that everybody knows it. But there are some additional corollaries that are on Jurisimprudence:

No Comparison Law

This corollary to Godwin's Law, written by walkingundine, states:

Even as Godwin's Law gives penalties for comparison of an unrelated event to the Holocaust, so Undine's Law of No Comparison protects September 11, 2001 from negligent and disrespectful use. Whomsoever cites the said tragedies for petty or quibbling reasons shall LOSE, and be beaten by badgers with sharp sticks.

Adora's Corollary

This corollary to Godwin's Law, written by adora_spintriae, states:

Applies exactly the same as Godwin's Law, except involving Michael Moore in the case of political wankage, as opposed to Cassie Claire in fandom.

Friedman's Corollary

This corollary to Godwin's Law, written by chaimonkey, states:

Anyone mentioning in a debate Afghanistan, Iraq, or anything else relating to that entire bloody mess has automatically invalidated whatever argument they were "supporting."

Uncle Tom's Corollary

This corollary to Godwin's Law, written by deoridhe, states:

As an online discussion on names for subgroups of humans grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving slavery or "nigger" approaches one.

At this point, the side of the debate claiming that their disliked term-of-the-day is the equivalent of a term steeped in a millennia of slavery will be forced to sit through hours of boring history lectures until s/h/it cries. S/h/it can petition a redress of this sentence in favor of becoming a slave to h/its opponent.

Godwin's Constitutional Preamble

"Politicians like to violate Godwin's. I think we need to insert a version of Godwin's into the preamble of the Constitution here in the U.S:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union [by comparing our enemies to Nazis], establish justice [through comparing you to Nazis], insure domestic tranquility [stop fucking that up, you Nazi], provide for the common defense [against Nazis like you], promote the general welfare [please compromise your Hitlerian principles, asshole], and secure yadda yadda." --Wankprophet[1]
