Harry/Hermione refers to the Harry Potter fandom pairing of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. Other terms for the ship include "H/Hr," "Harmony," "Pumpkin Pie," "Buckbeak," "Witherwings," and Merlin knows what else. (In the tradition of Harry Potter shippers, any of these names may be treated as a ship in the British navy, e.g. "The HMS Pumpkin Pie".)

Because Harry, Hermione, and Ron Weasley are the three main protagonists of the Harry Potter novels, there are many shipper wars between Harry/Hermione shippers and OBHWF (One Big Happy Weasley Family) shippers, who would prefer for Hermione to end up with Ron, and for Harry to end up with Ron's sister Ginny. In July 2005, the publishing of Harry Potter VI: The Undiscovered Country made Harry/Ginny canon, dashing the hopes of the most hardcore H/Hr shippers. Adding insult to injury, R/Hr was confirmed in THE INTERVIEW, causing the fandom to explode in wank.

Harry/Hermione should not be confused with the RPF/tinhatty ship Dan/Emma. However, many suspect such confusion is the motivating factor behind H/Hr shipping, and vice versa.

Harmony

Harry/Hermione shippers are sometimes known as "Harmonians". However, after numerous Harry/Hermione wanks on Fandom Wank, wankas began making the distinction that Harmonians were only that subset of H/Hr shippers who are batshit insane.

Pumpkin Pie

This name originates from a Harry/Hermione fanfic in which they share their first kiss and Hermione observes that Harry tastes like pumpkin pie, which he had been eating earlier in the story. The term seems to have fallen out of favor among Harry/Hermione shippers when it came to light that pumpkin pie is not a popular dish in England. The vague implication that Harry/Hermione could be anything less than loved the world over was too much for many shippers, who gravitated towards "Harmony" instead.

Nevertheless, many followers of the pairing still prefer Pumpkin Pie, especially to distinguish themselves from Harmonians. We're told there are many H/Hr shippers who are content to enjoy their ship in fanon and do not believe JK Rowling causes forced abortions of Chinese babies. And if you ever meet one of them, please let us know.

(The HMS Pumpkin Pie should not be confused with The HMS Orange Crush, a term for Harry/Ginny shipping that was coined when the carrot-topped Ginny, having a crush on Harry, slipped him a love potion every 24 hours in his favorite carbonated fruit drink.)
