Hogwarts Online

The Background
After leaving WIKTT in the wake of the Pawn to Queen debacle, and having already had some connections to the Snape slash part of the fandom, Auror Borealis, Darkrose, and Damiana started spending more time on the snapeslash Yahoo! Group.
So, what was Hogwarts Online, you ask?
JayKay had a dream in May 2002-- she wanted to play a Harry Potter-based LiveJournal RPG. But she didn't want to organize it. Darkrose thought it sounded like fun and volunteered to organize it.[1] In short order, the majority of BNFs in Snape slash fandom had signed on to play parts.
Thus was born: Hogwarts Online.
Was this a good idea or a recipe for wank ? Well, given that this is here, you already know the answer.
Some might say this was a BNF deathmatch in which the BNFs participated voluntarily...

- May 18, 2002: The game is closed to new players.[3]

- September 6, 2002: Ailei decides to leave the game. Her Sirius had been involved in an in-fic threesome ("the trio") with Darkrose's Snape and JayKay's Lupin. Sirius is killed instead of replacing the character.[20]
- September 7, 2002: Ailei posts her game postmortem, which suggests some deeper problems.[21]
And it seems that we are all doomed to wonder just what went wrong, until...
- September 9, 2002: Damiana's had time to think...[22] (for added special drama, make sure to read the comments)
And Darkrose continues "to be stunned by the capacity of human beings to delude themselves."[23]
Coda
Hogwarts Online officially "ended" several months later (some time after JayKay's Harry married McAmy's Hermione, actually), and later spawned a spinoff on JournalFen called incantatum. Clearly, some of the original cast didn't make it that far.
