"Earth-shattering!"
"My God, I never guessed..."
"NO!!!!"
Is it a sign of the impending apocalypse?
Yes. How did you guess?
What is it?
In tandem with the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the demoness known as JKR arranged an interview with Emerson Spartz of Mugglenet and Melissa Anelli of the Leaky Cauldron.
Released in sections over the course of three days, THE INTERVIEW (especially part 2!) struck despair into the hearts of Harmonians everywhere. It became known as The Interview of Doom (IOD).
Surely you jest?
Not much.
Why?
The excerpt:
| “ | ES: We thought it was clearer than ever that Harry and Ginny are an item and Ron and Hermione — although we think you made it painfully obvious in the first five books —
JKR: (points to herself and whispers) So do I! ES: What was that? JKR: (More loudly) Well so do I! So do I! (All laugh; Melissa doubles over, hysterical, and may have died.) ES: Harry/Hermione shippers - delusional! JKR: Well no, I'm not going to - Emerson, I am not going to say they're delusional! They are still valued members of my readership! I am not going to use the word delusional. I am however, going to say — now I am trusting both of you to do the spoiler thing when you write this up — (More laughter.) JKR: I will say, that yes, I personally feel - well it's going to be clear once people have read book six. I mean, that’s it. It’s done, isn’t it? We know. Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione. I do feel that I have dropped heavy - (All crack up) JKR: - hints. ANVIL-sized, actually, hints, prior to this point. I certainly think even if subtle clues hadn't been picked up by the end of "Azkaban," that by the time we hit Krum in Goblet... | ” |
They care about the word "delusional?"
Being called "delusional" by Emerson and Melissa and -- HORRORS!-- having JKR laugh about it is:
- Justification for intimating one's enemies commit incest [1][2]
- Equivalent to being persecuted and enslaved
- Enough to make you wish the author had died in childbirth [3]
Besides:
| “ | JK Rowling, as an author with fans of different ships (which she was well aware of during the writing of HBP, if not as far back as GoF), has an obligation to be professional when dealing with fans. Professional means a certain amount of neutrality and fairness. | ” |
But will the Harmonians ever recover?
A few made a game attempt to turn other excerpts to their advantage, but the prognosis remains uncertain.
If nothing else, they have very chapped hands.
