MLPs, as they are called, were introduced in 1982, and have captured the imagination money of thousands since. The toys themselves are plastic, brightly-colored "horses" with logos on their rears. The cartoon series, a not at all-thinly-disguised ad, was a major source of fascism in the 80s. The fandom consists almost entirely of obsessive-compulsive wank.
