Although Nintendo has gone downhill since the release of its acknowledged masterpiece, Duck Hunt, it still has some fans for a few of its video games. Some of these are Super Mario, the Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Mother (aka Earthbound), Pokemon, and Super Smash Brothers. Nintendo's chief claim to fame is that the fanbase take the Nintendo staff's nicknames very, very seriously. For example, there's game creator Shigeru "Shiggy" Miyamoto and marketing guru Reggie "Reggie" Fils-Aime. Also, their revered advertising genius, Cyril "Barmy" Fotheringay-Phipps.
Fans' chief reverence is reserved for the company's revered hardware such as the revered SNES, the most revered Game Boy, the somewhat revered DS, and the reverentially revered Power Glove. ("It's so bad")
Nintendo launched its latest home console, the Wii, in the fall of 2006. Formerly codenamed "Revolution", the Wii has been the butt of several puns (and several wanks) all over the Iinternets since iits offiicial name was unveiiled.
