Prince of Tennis is a magical, ghei show about a bunch of junior high schoolers playing magical, ghei tennis that has become the new Weiss Kreuz.

The mammoth increase of wank in Prince Of Tennis fandom cannot, of course, be attributed to the show being broadcast by Cartoon Network in the United States. Everyone knows PoT went bad when Aja, on the rebound from her previous relationship with Harry Potter, moved in with all her fangirls in tow.

In a development that must come as a shock to any thinking fan, shipping wars provide most of the wank. With more than 80 nubile young male characters available for the slashing, there are about 12640 possible yaoi pairings in this series, and the fangirls do a good job producing well-written relationship studies for each and every one of them.

Basic Character Pairing Formula

If they are in a doubles pair together, then they are doing it.
Examples:Golden Pair (Oishi x Kikumaru), Silver Pair (Ohtori x Shishido), Rikkai D1 (Niou x Yagyuu), Dirty Pair (Oshitari x Gakuto)
In fact, if they have ever, at any point in time, played doubles together, then they are probably doing it.
Example: Inui x Tezuka, Taki x Ohtori, Yanagi x Inui, Yanagi x Niou, Sanada x Atobe (anime only)
If they have ever played a match against each other, then they are doing it.
Example: Momoshiro x Sengoku, Kirihara x Ryoma, Sanada x Atobe (again)
If there is a deep, mentoring relationship between two characters, then they are doing it.
Example: Tezuka x Ryoma, Tachibana x everyone in Fudomine, Yamato x Tezuka, Yanagi x Kirihara
If two characters have ever engaged in a deep discussion about playing styles or tennis matches, then they are doing it.
Example: Tezuka x Fuji, Oshitari x Fuji.
If they are related, then they are doing it.
Example: Fujicest, Kaidohcest, Kisarazu Twincest, Oshitaricest (this is more like kissing cousins, tho)
If they are long-time rivals, then they are doing it.
Example: Atobe x Tezuka, Tachibana x Chitose.
If a captain and his vice-captain are shown as being close teammates and/or friends, then they are doing it.
Example: Yukimura x Sanada, Tezuka x Oishi..
If somehow a girl (OMG het EW) is involved, the guy is doing the girl ONLY to hide how much he wants to do his True Gay Love, or because she's a Mary Sue in the making who wants nothing more than to keep the guy away from said True Gay Love.
Example: Momoshiro x An, Ryoma x Sakuno, any guy x any of the girls from the dating sims.
If the coach of the team is a relatively young and/or good-looking man, then he is undoubtedly doing someone from the team.
Example: Sakaki x Atobe, Osamu x Chitose.
