Sailor Moon: The archetypal manga and anime about teams of big-eyed nubile teenage girls running around in school uniforms shooting their magic powers at things. Since being brought to North America, Sailor Moon has become what many Americans associate with anime. This causes anime fans to protest that not all anime is like Sailor Moon, and anime haters to counter that yeah, it kind of is.

There is much wank about changes made to the American version of the show, particularly the removal of all the gay pairings.

Sailor Moon and her Sailor Scouts are popular subjects for cosplay. Examples of Sailor Moon cosplayers include Usagi Kou and, uh, Sailor Bubba (the latter not to be confused with Cowboy Bebop cosplayer Man Faye).
