Snape Slash Fleet vs. Fiction Alley Park

Background: Founding of the Snape Slash Fleet
Around August/September 2001, JayKay posted a suggestion to the snapeslash mailing list. To paraphrase, she said, "Wouldn't it be a good idea if we were to create an archive to host Snape-based slash fiction?"
Fans of the newly popular Snape/Harry pairing said, "Good idea! Let's start a Snape/Harry archive! Telanu should be the captain; can I be the parrot/first mate/cook/pastry chef?"
JayKay said, "Wait, let's have a fleet of different ships-- one for each pairing, with a central port of call!" ...and the Snape Slash Fleet was born. However, the other ships were not quite as enthusiastic as the Snape/Harry ship, as was seen from post 1476 on snapeslash (by Tinderblast) listing the Snape/Harry roster:

The debut of the Fleet's mailing list was in November 2001, and, for a brief time, it had a LJ community as well.
The Kerfuffle!
All went swimmingly until mid-March 2002, when a huge kerfluffle erupted on JayKay and Tinderblast's LiveJournals. A Snape/Harry thread had been started on Fiction Alley Park-- the Cruise Liner Snape/Harry-- giving rise to a "pretender captain." OH NOES!!!
Naturally, the true ship Snape/Harry fell all over itself declaring allegiance to the one true captain, Telanu, especially after JayKay promoted Tinderblast's post in her very popular LiveJournal.
Further, JayKay opined, they were stealing her idea of the ship as a real nautical vessel.
The thread quickly degenerated into a flamewar between Fiction Alley supporters and detractors.
(JayKay's journal -- chocolate_frog -- has been deleted, and Tinderblast's main rant thread is locked, but some traces still remain).[4][5][6] [7]
But, wait! Could it all have been a misunderstanding?
The "ship" on Fiction Alley Park had been founded by Ev_vy, the deckhand on the Snape Slash Fleet Snape/Harry ship.[8] Ev_vy was highly offended, and posted a farewell resigning her "deckhand" position on the original Snape/Harry ship in Tinderblast's journal (and on the snapeslash list, post 5758, March 16, 2002)-- for she could not continue to be a part of the Snape Slash Fleet and also remain part of Fiction Alley.
Further, Ev_vy claimed to have asked permission from Tinderblast and Telanu to start the ship, and had taken their lack of response as approval. Telanu, who had been out of town, returned to her shattered ship a few days later...[9]
In a coda to the wank, Ev_vy sent an email to JayKay chewing her out for promoting Tinderblast's rant on her LiveJournal-- saying, as a BNF, JayKay should watch what she said in public. JayKay posted a public reply on her LiveJournal saying that it was her personal journal, and she could say whatever she wanted.[10]
Note
The archive associated with the Snarry ship in the Snape Slash Fleet was Walking the Plank. In late 2004, this archive merged with and was replaced by Detention, an archive which met its dramatic end in late 2005.
