Soul bond

Taking a cue from otherkin, soulbonders believe they either:

1. are the reincarnation of their favorite fictional character, or
2. have a special soul connection to said character,

...which explains why they hear that character's voice in their head. Having an active imagination? Pshaw! That'd be the logical explanation, which of course is impossible.

When the fictional character comes from anime or manga, soulbonders can be qualified as otakin or otakukin. It should be noted that even those otherkin who believe themselves to be dragons, demons, or angels tend to think these people are batshit insane.[1]
