In short

Stormfreak doesn't like Fandom Wank, and Fandom Wank doesn't like her.

This isn't particularly unusual; Fandom Wank doesn't win a lot of internet popularity contests, particularly with those wanked repeatedly.

The depth of mutual antipathy, however, places Stormfreak among a (very, very) small group of wankers Fandom Wank would prefer not to see again.

Most of the wanks were lost to TOSsings and deletions. However, they are briefly described below based on comments made by both Stormfreak and Fandom Wank members.

In the beginning...

Stormfreak was a black American fanfic writer in the X-Men fandom who wrote fanfiction focused on the character Storm.

...On LiveJournal...

There were at least two wanks related to Stormfreak posted on the original LiveJournal incarnation of Fandom Wank. One involved a disagreement with members of Subreality.com. A second involved a disagreement over the Comic Book Fanfiction Awards.

In the CBFFA wank, there were allegations that nominations were being manipulated via sockpuppets, and, specifically, that Stormfreak was involved.[1][2][3] As a result, the moderators instituted a complex system to verify IP addresses and remove duplicate votes. Ultimately, the verification system proved the allegations of sockpuppet voting by Stormfreak were likely invalid. Stormfreak later went on to win awards in several categories.[4]

...On Blurty...

There were a few Stormfreak wanks on Blurty.

One involved Stormfreak's creation of the stormfreaksucks community on LiveJournal. She invited all of her enemies to join.

The original details of the best-remembered wank appear to revolve around Stormfreak's posting of (real or alleged) photographs of people she had disagreements with in the comics community on fugly.net with commentary on their looks. Others on her board joined in the commentary; some were apparently quite vicious.[5][6] Some of these photographs were identified with names that either matched or were similar to active members of Fandom Wank.[7] Further, Stormfreak went on to claim that anyone who took umbrage to her insults must be ugly, too.[8]

On Fandom Wank, people tracked down and posted pictures of Stormfreak.[9][10] Personal contact information (including the name of Stormfreak's university and a contact number for the school's newspaper where Stormfreak worked) was also posted in the threads by an anonymous poster. [11][12] At approximately the same time as the wank appeared, Stormfreak indicates she, her school, and her newsroom received threatening phone calls and emails containing viruses and racial epithets.

Stormfreak appears to have assumed at the time that Fandom Wank was responsible for these racist attacks, and she submitted a complaint to Blurty over the posting of her personal information. This complaint may be responsible for the removal of Fandom Wank from Blurty.[13]

Fandom Wank's position is (and has always been) that the community did not organize the attacks on Stormfreak. The originator(s) of the attacks may have seen her personal information posted on Fandom Wank and used it in carrying out the attacks. However, Fandom Wank assumes those most likely to have been responsible were the people in the comics fandom Stormfreak actually disagreed with, not the people pointing and laughing at the disagreements.[14]

...On JournalFen...

Stormfreak briefly "participated" in Fandom Wank.

March 23, 2003: She posted repeatedly, and encouraged participants on her board to post as well, commonly running up hundreds of comments.[15] Large blocks of text from Thus Spake Zarathustra were posted anonymously on Fandom Wank by a troll.[16] Being back in the early days of especially robust servers, this repeatedly crashed JournalFen. These posts used enormous amounts of bandwidth, causing the JFA to be charged additional fees.[17] Stormfreak was held responsible for the block text posting, though she claims it was someone else.[18] Either way, when she was banned, the posting stopped.[19][20]

She was allowed to return a few months later. She was commonly felt to be trolling.[21][22][23][24] Among various other insults, she attacked Darkrose[25]. She also attacked Zorrorojo, which led to ZR banning Stormfreak from her personal journal.

Her final removal occurred after she posted a wank on August 27, 2003.(deleted)(reproduced) The wank itself was not particularly offensive. Due to Stormfreak's past antics, however, it was deleted by the ModSquad; Stormfreak's journal was banned from Fandom Wank, and a community-locked post explained the deletion.[26] [27] All hell broke loose. There was a second wank post (since deleted). [28] Stormfreak created several sockpuppet journals:

  • stormfreak
  • stormfreak82
  • stormfreak1982
  • stormfreak_1982
  • stormfreakbaby
  • freakreturns
  • morestormfreak

Several of these socks joined Fandom Wank and commented in the locked post, then were individually banned from the community.[29] Fandom Wank was temporarily locked down.[30]

Subsequently, she was banned from JournalFen by IP[31][32], though she directed another attack at Zorrorojo before that happened.[33][34][35] The second deleted post on Fandom Wank was cited as the reason for her ban from JF.

Communication with Fandom Wank Mods

In the aftermath, one of the ModSquad received email communication from Stormfreak. Stormfreak's original email and the response are reproduced below:

Subject: You're still a coward.

Just wanted you to know that. You can't address me unless you have a community backing you, while I single-handedly CHANGED the way you run your fandom.

Dumb ass.

Stormfreak

Dear Storm Freak,

Thank you for your interesting and informative email, outlining your contributions to fandom. Unfortunately, we have no positions available in our company at this time. We wish you all the best.

Yours sincerely,

fandom_wank

She Who Must Not Be Named

variant: She Who Must Not Be Wanked

She has repeatedly claimed that she only turns up when people talk about her, thus our cunning obfuscation.

It doesn't work.

The JFA have made it clear that Stormfreak is not welcome. With the passage of time, her IP address has changed, which allows her to comment anonymously until a moderator catches her and bans her by IP or turns off anonymous commenting.

As with minors, Stormfreak is not welcome on JournalFen. Thus, as with minors, don't wank her.[36]

In the interest of avoiding wanking her, she currently identifies herself on LiveJournal as stormfreak (unused since 2004), rattlerbrat (renamed), magentathompson (TOSed), jade_logan (TOSed), loomis_simmons (TOSed), loomissimmons[37] (TOSed), joyce_bains (TOSed), queenofwakanda (TOSed), stopsnitchin and God knows what else. (Thanks so much for taking the time to keep us informed. It must have been fatiguing to create that many sockpuppets and use an anonymizer service.)

Wiki Wank

Stormfreak ran across the original version of this wiki article and commented it was biased and inaccurate, but didn't seem to care much.

However, one of her friends showed up to "set the record straight." After several attempts to work with her on the article and the posting of a reminder not to wank Stormfreak, her friend was banned from the wiki for sockpuppets, persistent trolling, not being an FW member, anonymously trolling FW (yes, we can match IPs you little minx!) and basically making our lives just a little more amusing. We love you wiki troll, we're sad you're gone![38][39][40][41][42]

And you missed us, too! We're so flattered.

The Fandom Wank wiki is not alone in enjoying Stormfreak's attention. (And we thought you loved us.) Wikipedia has enjoyed friendly interactions with her as well.
