Strikethrough2007 was the name given to the sudden permanent suspension of LiveJournal communities and journals starting May 29, 2007, and the related wank.

The Original Strikethrough

Over 500 accounts with interests that could be connected to child porn or incest were yanked without warning. This mass action occurred after the anti-pedophile vigilante group Warriors for Innocence sent complaints to SixApart, the then-owners of LJ, but may have been sparked by other as-yet-unknown (but highly speculated about) reasons. Was 6A thinking of the children, or just of their bottom line?

While many actual pedophile comms and users were hit, there were also many innocent victims of the purge. The best-known fannish casualty was the Harry Potter fanfic/fanart community, Pornish Pixies. Non-fannish innocent accounts included a Spanish community about the book Lolita, communities for Japanese Lolita fashion, and several personal journals of incest survivors.

As one could imagine, fandom (by definition unstable, and more on edge than usual because of FanLib) went insane.

• The Wank Report. Massive amounts of comments and links to this report quickly led to prodigious levels of server robustness.

Because the first time was so much fun, LJ did it a second time!

When ponderosa121 and elaboration get TOSsed for their HP artwork, fandom goes ballistic once more. This time, with less articulate thoughts and more news post trolling.
