Talk:Final Fantasy VII

From Fandom wank wiki

I'm not sure about these individual character pages. With Harry Potter, after a bit of discussion, we put all the characters on the HP page. It stops the wiki from becoming a list of characters in books and movies. --Narcissam 19:32, 25 June 2006 (BST)

Yeah, I agree. I'm redirecting the Barret Wallace page - but I think the main characters can stay as they are, if maybe they get more article development. As for the others... um, I'm including a link to wikipedia's list of FF7 characters. Any snark should be put on this page, just like the HP article. --Mindset 21:57, 25 June 2006 (BST)
FF7 wanks aren't that major a feature on F_W, though. If there's individual character pages for this fandom, we might as well make them for every other one that's featured in a wank report every two or three months. --Reeve 10:55, 26 June 2006 (BST)
Well true, but I didn't make the articles. I mean, I could incorporate Tifa and Aeris' articles into the FF7 page, but then Firefly99's sketches would just be links or something. As for Cloud and Sephiroth, yeah, maybe the articles shouldn't have been made in the first place, but they are and they're big. And no comment on Cait Sith. But really, I have no opinion, other than wanting to streamline the wiki a bit - I care just about as much for FF7 characters as anyone who's never played the game and never noticed a wank about them. :) --Mindset 15:52, 26 June 2006 (BST)
I gather some of this stuff is more pertinent to ffrants. But then This isn't the ffrants wiki.--Narcissam 17:14, 26 June 2006 (BST)
I don't so much have an issue with the existence of the Cloud and Sephiroth pages, perhaps because I made the Sephiroth page. The main thing of interest in FF7 fandom is the ceaseless pairing wars between Cloud/Tifa and Cloud/Aeris shippers, and the endless screaming arguments about whether it's spelled "Aeris" or "Aerith." (To which the correct answer is "yes".) The fandom's view of Sephiroth is also funny, because it seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the character in the game. I think there are some amusing Sephiroth-based wanks (involving people who were totally married to him IRL, OMG!!). I'll see if I can track those down. Barrett, Red XIII, Yuffie, etc., don't need their own pages, IMO. Cait Sith... no comment. -- Avocado 21:09, 26 June 2006 (BST)
Yeah, that pretty much sums up FF7 fandom; the Cloti vs. Cleris/th wars are probably the the wankiest thing about it. As far as Sephy goes, there have been huge arguments over whether or not Vincent was his father (even though canon clearly says he ain't, inexplicably enough), but I don't know if any such debates ever made it to F_W. As far as people being "married" to Sephiroth, has the "Dreaming of Sephiroth"[1] blog ever been wank-reported (ETA: Just saw the Sephy page; looks like we had the same idea)? Oh, and I have an idea: the icon on the Cait Sith page could be moved to Fanficrants. (Sorry if this reply is kind of random; didn't get any sleep last night :P) --Reeve 01:23, 27 June 2006 (BST)

Heh, I just commented on all the character pages that this isn't a Final Fantasy wiki, so I didn't see the point. BURN IT ALL! --Snacky 17:28, 27 June 2006 (BST)

Well, I think more literally, it's not the Fanficrants wiki. How about this? I support Reeve's suggestion of removing the "Cait Sith" page. If we want to keep the icon, it can be on the FFR page. I support getting rid of the Aeris (and Aeris...etc.) and Tifa pages and incorporating them into the main FF7 page. I'd probably dump the "Complication" page as well. I'm torn on Sephiroth and Cloud. -- Avocado 18:50, 27 June 2006 (BST)
I think it should all go into the one page that has the links to the wank report, personally. I can't figure out why these characters have their own pages. But that's just me, and maybe I'm just missing the point somewhere.--Snacky 19:19, 27 June 2006 (BST)
Will do. -- Avocado 19:34, 27 June 2006 (BST)

Mind if I request some clarification regarding that link, i.e. that we're pointing out that it's that webmistress of the 'omg ph33r' who is batfuck insane, and not the admins of hojo.org in and of itself? Because...it's a character shrine to Hojo. That's it. And Soshi is generally out of her cotton-pickin' mind. --Ecchaniz0r 04:51, 20 April 2007 (BST)

Go for it. Feel free to edit the article/that section/etc. as you see fit. I did see your comment when you originally made it, but, seeing as I know next to nothing about FF7 fandom (just the game itself), I figured someone else would comment or edit. Since no one else has, please edit as you deem appropriate. -- Avocado 03:08, 5 May 2007 (BST)
Belatedly done. I am so lame and so belated. Edit inspired by the fact that some doofus tried to 'save the soul' of the site's new webmistress recently! User:Ecchaniz0r

Madison and The Company

Um, I'm not sure how that section made it's way into the article but in no way is it related to the website "A Public Warning: FF7 Fandom". The whole Madison affair happened in the 80s and occurred in the East Village. They weren't into ANY fandom but were just old fashion batshit and Madison believed she descended from druids or something. I'm taking it out. --Omgsepusepu! 07:01, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

It's in there because of the parallels between the Madison situation and the ota-kooks like SummonerYuna. It's also a great story. I'm putting it back in.

--TheSpie 14:57, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

It's there because the contention is that the Public Warning site made up most of its material. Specifically, that it links journals and material not related to any of the supposedly guilty parties, and copies a lot of its content and setup from the Madison site.-- Avocado 01:41, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
