Talk:Sparkle text
From Fandom wank wiki
MediaWiki html doesn't seem to allow background images, so my apologies for the kludgy css on this page. --Mindset 21:49, 4 December 2005 (GMT)
With my default settings the sparkles were slightly too low. I had to use "Ctrl-minus" to shrink the font enough so that the sparkles perfectly overlapped the text; if I used "Ctrl-plus" instead, the sparkles were even more off-center. I changed the CSS to use "em" instead of "px" for how far back up the page the sparkles should be pushed so that they'd cover the text, and that seems to get the sparkles to vertically center over the text no matter how much I increase or decrease my font size.
I'm using a beta version of Mozilla on Linux. -- Khym Chanur 04:17, 5 December 2005 (GMT)
Okay, I think I've figured out how to do it for real: MediaWiki:Standard.css just needs to be edited to define a CSS class which does the sparkles, then just do <span class="sparkletext">...</span>. Of course, doing so requires admin privledge, so I'll drop the admin a note about it. -- Khym Chanur 04:29, 5 December 2005 (GMT)
- Yeah, I tested it in IE and Moz, and thought about using .ems, but I'm really not used to them yet. As for the CSS, I was thinking about dropping Hnky a link about that myself, so thanks. :) --Mindset 05:13, 5 December 2005 (GMT)
I'd just like to state for the record here that the whole idea of modifying the wiki's CSS to allow for the ability to put our swear words in sparkly text makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. --PuiPui
- Now a mod, and I did it. :D Oh, oh, the power. Mine is an evil laugh... --Mindset 17:43, 26 September 2006 (BST)
- Best birthday present ever OMG! *swoons* --puipui 06:44, 28 September 2006 (BST)
- The CCS was only changed for the Monobook (default) skin; you might want to change the other ones too. -- Khym Chanur 04:13, 29 September 2006 (BST)
