aka: Having Lived Longer Doesn't Make You Better
When someone mentions their age and/or how long they've been in fandom, in a discussion in which such facts are irrelevant, in an effort to establish their cred, they shall be declared the loser and be forcefed a bottle of Geritol and several squares of Ex-Lax.
Example: If the discussion is about whether your fandom has become teh_suck, it is perfectly appropriate to say something like, "Well, I've been in this fandom for fifty years, and I've observed several cycles of suck-to-brilliance during that time."
If, however, the discussion is about whether or not slash/incestfic/whatever is EVAL, it doesn't matter if you've been in fandom since the days when 'zines were carved into wax tablets and distributed by men on horseback. Sit down, shut up, and drink your damn Metamucil.
