The difference between fandom wank and and groups like badficsupport

From Fandom wank wiki

Stormfreak and Misswindy discuss Fandom Wank. Others join in.

My understanding of fandom_wank is that it exists to mock, and possibly deflate, the fannish bloviations of those who perhaps forgot that they were fucking with the lights on and the curtains wide open. You get caught, out in the open, doing something stupid and vain, or simply exposing a little too much flesh. You get harpooned and lampooned and humiliated. It might very well be unwarranted, but a decent f_w shout-out ought to be trying to unseat someone who is, in actuality, perched on a high horse. Brutal and unfair as it might be, f_w does provide the persecuted a forum in which to hiss and spit at his/her attackers.
Some differences between badficsupport and fandom wank:
1. Fiction is usually written to "entertain" an audience. Fiction is not usually intended to put across grandiose opinions about how others should behave or react.
2. Fandom_wank, is, I believe, primarily a place to attack personalities, particularly personalities who attempt to apply highly personal templates to the ebb and flow of fandom and the shivering denizens therein. Ugly as those attacks might be, the creative works of individual personalities seem to be secondary or merely incidental targets.
3. A writer of little talent who is otherwise perfectly affable is not likely to find enthusiastic attackers on fandom_wank. A talented writer who makes lofty pronouncements about the right way to do things and puts effort into belittling other fans for exhibiting bad form is going to be skewered. See the difference?
4. The opportunity for the persecuted to retaliate within the community is an extremely important distinction. It's the difference between being an actual hunter, or taking a prize for shooting chained bear. Wouldn't you rather be like Ted (Nugent, or Roosevelt)? Now that metaphor absolutely reeks of wank...
