According to the Fandom Wank main page, wank consists of "Self-aggrandizing posturing. Fannish absurdities. Circular ego-stroking. Endless flamewars. Pseudointellectual definitions."

Chamber's Dictionary defines wank as "an act or instance of masturbation," while wanky is simply "objectionable, contemptible." Cassell's Dictionary of Slang suggests that a wanker is "a general derog. description of a lazy, incompetent, unpleasant person," noting in passing that the word may be derived from late C19th Yorkshire dialect, where a wanker was a simpleton. It is Australia's Macquarie Dictionary which seems to have the most appropriate printed definition, offering as its fourth definition "behaviour which is self-indulgent or egotistical," also suggesting the reflexive verb 'to wank oneself,' meaning "to maintain an illusion; deceive oneself." Amusingly, the third definition it gives for wank is "a hobby."

Oh, and it's also a mountain in Germany.[1] According to Wikipedia, "many English-speaking tourists travelling in nearby Austria make a detour to Wank."[2]
