The First World Wide Web War occurred when eBaum's World decided to post an animated .gif and .mp3 combination to his website of Lindsay Lohan's inability to change facial expressions that originated on YTMND and taking credit for the creation himself. This pissed off the denizens of YTMND, of course.

The War

After the theft of the image, the "forum soldiers" of YTMND.com were up in arms. They decided to unite with enraged members of Something Awful, 4chan, Newgrounds, Fark, and LUELinks to bring the eBaum's forums, website, and chatroom down through a series of distributed denial of service attacks (ignoring the fact that these count as hits for ad revenue).

On January 9, 2006, the attacks began. Of course, eBaum's retaliates by doing the exact same thing. In all, eBaum's and YTMND bring each other down in massive waves of DDoS attacks for the next 48 hours.

Towards the end of the debacle, Neil Bauman, "Executive Vice President of eBaum's World Inc" (read: Eric Bauman's father) issues a tl;dr cease and desist order heavy on pseudolegalese and LOLs. In this request, grammar, spelling, and logic are all violated. Of course, a YTMND denizen come up with a rather amusing dramatic reading of this e-mail as well as a letter confirming that Neil Bauman not only sent the letter, but is a complete asshat. Max, the owner of YTMND, then replies with an e-mail in which he layeth the smacketh down.

The end result

Nothing really changes after the course of the war. Any YTMND with "ebaum" in the title is taken down as a show of good faith by Max, though it only happens after a 48 hour "warning" period. Furthermore, variants of "ebaum", such as "e-baum" are not included in the mass deletion.
